Police: Man Held On $7,500 Bail For Friday Afternoon Shooting

A Wilmington Police investigation has resulted in an arrest in connection with an April 29 shooting incident.

On April 29 at approximately 4:14 p.m., police were dispatched to the 2100 block of North Pine Street. Responding officers located a 32-year-old male gunshot victim who was transported to the hospital in stable condition.

The case was assigned to Detective Brendan Shea of the Criminal Investigations Division. Through the course of his investigation, Detective Shea identified 21-year-old Michael Carpenter as a suspect police said Saturday. An arrest warrant was secured for Carpenter, who was taken into custody without incident.

Carpenter was charged with the following offenses:

• Assault 1st Degree
• Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony

He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $7,500 cash-only bail.
