Fiery Crash Closes Road In Newark Early Tuesday

Just before 5:30, Tuesday morning rescues crews from Aetna, Hose, Hook, and Ladder responded to Ogletown Road in the area of Stafford Way in Newark for reports of a vehicle accident.

While en route crews learned that the vehicle was on fire and that the driver was out of the vehicle. Initial reports from the scene indicate that the vehicle burst into flames when the driver lost control and slammed into a guard rail.

Arriving crews reported that the vehicle was fully involved and began working to extinguish the fire. The driver refused transport to the hospital after being evaluated by EMTs.

The roadway was closed while crews worked to clear the scene.
