Fire Damage To Bethany Beach Home Tuesday Morning Estimated At $500K

The Delaware Office of the State Fire Marshal investigated a fire that heavily damaged a single-family dwelling structure in Bethany Beach Tuesday morning, according to Chief Deputy State Fire Marshal John Galaska.

Galaska said the incident, reported shortly before 9:30 A.M., occurred in the 31000 block of May Drive in the Bethany Lakes community. The Millville Volunteer Fire Department arrived on
the scene and found smoke and flames coming from a dwelling structure. The home was occupied at the time of the fire. All occupants escaped without injury.

State fire investigators, called to the scene,  determined that the fire was accidental in nature. Galaska said it was caused by an electrical malfunction in the exterior pool equipment area. There were no reported injuries.

Damage is estimated at $500,000.00.

Mutual aid from multiple fire companies assisted at the scene.
