Officials One Adult, Three Children Dead In York County Mass Casualty Incident, Several Others Injured

Friday morning York County Pennsylvania rescue crews responded to a crash reportedly involving a vehicle and a horse and buggy in Lower Chanceford Township, Pennsylvania.

Officials later clarified that the incident involved a farmer on a tractor pulling a trailer with 10 children inside when the tractor went off the road and the trailer overturned.

Cody Santiago, Director of the York County Office of Emergency Management tells FSU that as many as 12 patients were injured in the accident, four of whom have succumbed to their injuries.

Santiago said that a Mass Casualty Incident was declared at 11:13 after the 911 center received multiple reports about the accident.

Initial reports also indicate that the accident involved entrapment and ejections from the vehicle.  Command requested as many as six medivac helicopters.

Pennsylvania State Police: Lower Chanceford Township: PSP York is investigating a farm tractor rollover crash that occurred in the area of 1100 Furnace Road after 11 a.m. Four fatalities are confirmed (1 adult, 3 children). The road is closed at this time.

PennDOT: Multi-vehicle crash on PA 425 both directions between GAMBLERS BOAT YARD, INDIAN STEPS RD, SAWMILL RD and LOWER RIVER RD. All lanes closed.
