Police: Two Felony Burglary Suspects Caught With The Goods, Released On Unsecured Bond

On Sunday, September 11, 2022, at 04:30 AM officers from the New Castle County Division of Police were dispatched to the unit block of Palermo Drive – Pine Woods Townhouses in reference to a burglary investigation, according to Corporal Michael McNasby.

McNasby said when officers arrived, they contacted the 29-year-old male victim. The victim reported that upon returning home he found his rear basement window shattered and house ransacked. It was further reported that electronics and sneakers were stolen from the residence.

Officers were able to successfully track one of the stolen electronics which led to a residence on the unit block of Arrow Way in the community of Hunters Run Trailer Park. Officers obtained search warrants for the residence and a motor vehicle. The search warrants were executed which led to the recovery of 22 pairs of Jordan sneakers, one Playstation 5, one Occulus headset, 5 watches, and 1 Apple Watch said McNasby. Additionally, officers took two suspects into custody at the residence.

Offices arrested 28-year-old Aaron Ortiz, Aaron was charged with felony burglary second degree, two counts of felony theft $1500 or greater, two counts of misdemeanor theft, and one count of misdemeanor criminal mischief.

19-year-old Devin Beasley, Devin was charged with felony burglary second degree, two counts of felony theft, one count of misdemeanor theft, and one count of misdemeanor criminal mischief.

Both subjects were arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 11. Aaron Ortiz was released on $18,000.00 unsecured bail. Devin Beasley was released on $16,000.00 unsecured bail.
