At approximately 6:15 Friday morning rescue crews from the Harrington Fire Company, Kent County Paramedics, and Tropper 2 responded to Hammondtown Road and Prospect Church Road for reports of a motor vehicle accident.
While en route crews learned that a single vehicle had struck a tree and the driver was badly injured. Troopers on scene advised that life-saving measures were underway.
Reports from the scene indicate that a structure was also damaged during the accident.
Delaware State Police issued the following statement regarding the incident:
Delaware State Police are currently on the scene of a serious motor vehicle collision on Prospect Church Road in Harrington. As a result, Prospect Church Road in the area of Hammondtown Road will be closed for an extended period. Motorists are urged to seek alternate routes of travel to avoid delays. This collision is in the early stages of the investigation. Additional details will be released once they become available.
