Third Victim In Memorial Drive Crash Succumbs To Injuries, Police Identify Victims

The New Castle County Division of Police has announced a third death resulting from the fatal crash that occurred on Memorial Drive on Tuesday.

Officials said that the driver of the Ford Escape that was transported to Christiana Hospital in critical condition succumbed to her injuries.

The three victims have been identified as:

56-year-old Barbara Temple of New Castle
57-year-old Levern Laws Jr of New Castle
57-year-old Angela Weeks of New Castle

On Tuesday, at approximately 9:30 a.m., patrol officers from the New Castle County Division of Police were dispatched to the unit block of Memorial Drive, east of Bizarre Drive, for a motor vehicle crash. The New Castle County Emergency Medical Services, Holloway Terrace, and Minquadale Fire Companies also responded to the scene.

Investigators from the Traffic Services Unit assumed the investigation which revealed a 2009 black Kia Sorento crossed the center raised median and struck a red Ford Escape head-on officials said Tuesday.

Witnesses reported they observed the black SUV cross the center median once prior to the collision. The vehicle regained control in the proper lane of travel before crossing the center median again just before the collision.

Both subjects, a 56-year-old female and a 57-year-old male, in the black Kia Sorento were pronounced deceased on-scene by paramedics. The operator of the red Ford Escape was transported to the Christiana Medical Center and is listed in critical condition.

Just before 9:30 Tuesday morning rescue crews responded to Memorial Drive in New Castle for reports and accident with entrapment.
