Troopers Identify Man Killed In Smyrna Accident Friday

Delaware State Police have identified the victim who died in a fatal motor vehicle collision that occurred on November 18, 2022, in the Smyrna area as Charles Cassidy, Jr., 43, of Townsend, Delaware.

Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal single-vehicle collision that occurred earlier this morning in the Smyrna area.

Officials said on November 18, 2022, at approximately 8:53 a.m., a black 2015 Dodge Journey was traveling northbound on Dupont Parkway south of Smyrna Landing Road. For unknown reasons, the vehicle drifted to its right and exited the roadway. The car continued northbound off the road for a short distance until it struck trees, where it spun and came to rest.

The driver of the Journey, a 43-year-old man from Townsend, Delaware, was properly restrained. He was pronounced deceased at the scene. Identification of the victim is pending notification to his family and relatives. No other vehicles were involved in this incident, and no other injuries were reported. Dupont Parkway was closed for approximately three hours while the collision was being investigated and cleared.
