Man Charged After Shots Fired Incident In Middletown

Middletown Police are investigating a shots fired incident that occurred on Sunday.

Officials said on January 8, 2023, at approximately 1:50 am Middletown Police responded to the 100 Block of Plymouth Place for reports of gunshots and vehicles leaving the area. Officers were checking the area and located a vehicle in the parking lot of Wawa that had damage from possible gunshots.

Officers contacted the occupants of the vehicle, one being Donald Chapman. Police said Chapman took off running while officers were inspecting the damage to the vehicle. He was taken into custody and officers located a fully loaded 9mm handgun police said.

Chapman was arrested for Possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of a
firearm by a person prohibited, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, resisting arrest with force, and
felony noncompliance with conditions of bond.

Chapman was arraigned by the Justice of the Peace Court 11 where he received $26,000 cash bond. He was later committed to Howard Young Correctional after failing to post bond.
