14-Year-Old Charged With Stealing Vehicle In Bear

Delaware State Police have arrested a 14-year-old teenager for stealing a motor vehicle at The UPS Store yesterday evening.

Officials said on March 22, 2023, at approximately 5:45 p.m., troopers responded to The UPS Store, located at 1148 Pulaski Highway in Bear, for a stolen motor vehicle complaint. TPolice said the victim left their Toyota Sienna unlocked and running while they were inside The UPS Store. The Toyota, which contained more than $1500 in personal property, was gone when the victim returned to the parking lot. Through investigative means, troopers identified a 14-year-old teenager as the suspect police said.

At approximately 10:39 p.m., troopers received information from Wilmington Police Department (WPD) that they had the stolen vehicle pulled over and the 14-year-old suspect in custody in reference to their own investigation. The 14-year-old suspect was transported to WPD where troopers charged the teenager with the following DSP-related crimes:

  • Theft $1500 or Greater (Felony)
  • Theft of a Motor Vehicle (Felony)

The 14-year-old suspect was arraigned by the Justice of the Peace Court # 11 and committed to Ferris School, where they are currently awaiting a bail hearing.
