Fire Destroys Elkton-Area Garage Sunday

On Sunday, April 16, 2023, at 8:13 p.m., emergency services were dispatched for a garage fire in the 200 Block of Fletchwood Road near Elkton. Upon arriving, firefighters with the Singerly Fire Company found a detached two-car garage engulfed in flames.

The fire was successfully extinguished after 15 minutes, with no reported injuries or fatalities. An initial investigation found that the fire started in the garage, however, the cause still remains under investigation. An estimated $100,000 in damages was reported due to the fire, including property loss and damage to the garage itself.

Investigators noted that there were no smoke alarms or sprinkler systems present within the structure.

The members of Singerly Fire Company and all emergency responders that assisted must be commended for their exceptional work in handling the situation. Fires can be catastrophic and often have devastating results, however, due to their timely response and advanced training, this situation was successfully mitigated quickly and with no reported casualties.
