Found Dead Along Route 9 In New Castle, Woman’s Death Still Unsolved

The tragic discovery of 36-year-old Lisa McCrossan’s lifeless body along the side of Route 9 in New Castle launched an investigation that is still open today.

Just days after her body was discovered police confirmed that McCrossan was the victim of a homicide, but the exact circumstances surrounding her death were not disclosed, leaving the community without answers.

Delaware State Police detectives from the Homicide Unit have been tirelessly investigating the case since McCrossan’s body was found on April 26, 2015, near the east shoulder of River Road. Her death was ruled a homicide due to the trauma she suffered. However, no arrests have been made in connection with the case, leaving the family and friends of Lisa McCrossan without closure for over eight years.

Investigators looking into McCrossan’s murder learned that she had been discharged from Christiana Hospital on April 24, 2015, at around 3:30 a.m. They also learned that a witness reported seeing a female pedestrian resembling McCrossan near the intersection of Pulaski Highway and Appleby Road in Bear on the afternoon of April 24, 2015.

Officials are hoping that the release of these details will generate new leads in their investigation They are urging anyone with information related to the case or who may have knowledge of McCrossan’s activities during the days preceding her death to come forward.
