Newark WAWA Robbed At Gunpoint Early Monday

Delaware State Police are investigating the armed robbery of a convenience store that occurred in the Newark area early Monday morning.

Officials said on June 12, 2023, at approximately 2:19 a.m., troopers responded to Wawa located at 1750 Captial Trail, Newark for an armed robbery. The investigation determined that a male suspect entered the store and asked for the manager. Upon contact, the suspect displayed a firearm and demanded money from the safe and cash register. The victim complied and the suspect fled through the rear of the business with an undisclosed amount of cash. There was a total of three employees and one customer in the store at the time, no one was injured.

The suspect is described as a black male in his early 20’s approximately 5’10” tall, 160 lbs., wearing all dark clothing.
