Man Charged In Trooper-Involved Shooting

In a recent incident that occurred on August 6, 2023, Delaware State Troopers responded to a 911 call regarding a domestic dispute.

Officials said the incident took place at approximately 8 p.m. in the 20000 block of Johnson Road in Lincoln. The caller reported a domestic dispute involving a man identified as Kenneth Fisher, 49, who was allegedly armed with a handgun.

As the troopers approached, they witnessed Fisher attempting to evade apprehension by fleeing down Johnson Road. In his bid to escape capture, Fisher made a sudden change in direction and continued running.

The troopers immediately issued commands to Fisher, instructing him to stop and to display his hands. It was at this point that Fisher reached into his waist according to police. In response to Fisher’s actions, one of the troopers fired a single shot, however, it missed Fisher.

Fisher then threw his handgun down and surrendered according to police. The troopers took him into custody, securing the weapon he had discarded.

Fisher was charged with a series of serious crimes, including possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, and resisting arrest. He was subsequently arraigned and held on a $21,000 cash bond.
