Bakery Near Elsmere Robbed At Gunpoint Early Tuesday

Delaware State Police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred early Thursday.

Officials said on September 26, 2023, in the early hours of the morning at approximately 3:07 a.m., an incident occurred at Pasteles Rojas Bakery, located at 2110 Kirkwood Highway in Wilmington.

According to authorities, an unknown suspect approached an employee who was in the process of taking out the trash. The situation escalated when the suspect brandished a handgun and forcefully pushed the employee back inside the bakery according to police. Once inside, the armed suspect ordered three additional employees to kneel on the floor. Throughout the incident, the suspect pointed the firearm at one of the employees threatening to kill them.

The suspect threatened to kill the employees while demanding cash from the registers as well as cash and personal property from the employees. Following the robbery, the suspect fled the scene on foot.

The suspect is described as a male dressed in dark-colored clothing.
