Young Man Killed In Tragic Accident Sunday

The Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred early this morning in Gumboro that left one man dead.

Officials said on September 24, 2023, at approximately 1:18 a.m., a white 2022 Chevrolet Silverado was approaching a sharp curve in the roadway while traveling northbound on Careys Camp Road just north of Little Hill Road.

For unknown reasons, the driver failed to negotiate the curve, and the Chevrolet exited the roadway. The Chevrolet traveled a short distance through a wet grassy area, struck a tree, and ultimately came to rest after striking another tree according to police.

The driver of the Chevrolet, a 20-year-old man from Georgetown, Delaware, was pronounced dead at the scene. His name is being withheld until his family and relatives are notified.

The roadway was closed for approximately 4 hours while the scene was investigated and cleared.
