Driver Hospitalized After Tractor Trailer Overturns In New Castle

Delaware State Police are investigating a crash that occurred in New Castle Thursday monring.

Just after 8:00 this morning rescue crews responded to reports of an overturned tractor-trailer at the intersection of Wilmington Road and Castle Hills Drive.

Upon arrival, the first responders found a tractor-trailer had veered off the roadway and overturned, resulting in the driver being trapped inside the vehicle. Firefighters quickly extricated the patient.

The patient, a 28-year-old male, was assessed and treated by the EMTa and New Castle County Paramedics. He was found to have potential internal injuries according to paramedic spokeswoman Jamielee Majewski. He was transported on board an ambulance from Good Will Fire Company to the Christiana Hospital in stable condition.

Delaware State Police Aviation, which was also dispatched to the scene, ultimately was not utilized.
