Troopers Identify Woman Killed In Accident Sunday Afternoon

The Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred on Sunday afternoon in Seaford that left one woman dead.

Officials said on December 3, 2023, at approximately 4:18 p.m., a 2018 Nissan Versa was traveling northbound in the right lane of Sussex Highway approaching the intersection of Middleford Road. At the same time, a 2014 Honda Odyssey was traveling westbound on Middleford Road, approaching the intersection of Sussex Highway. The Versa failed to stop at the red light and proceeded into the intersection, into the Odyssey’s path of travel according to police. The front of the Versa impacted the left front side of the Odyssey within the intersection.

The driver of the Versa, 74-year-old  Anna Cannon of Seaford, was taken to an area hospital by ambulance where she later died.

The driver of the Odyssey, a 47-year-old Seaford woman and passengers were taken to an area hospital by ambulance for non-life-threatening injuries.

The roadway was closed for approximately three and a half hours while the scene was investigated and cleared.
