Two County Officers Injured In Fiery Crash During Chase

New Castle County Police are investigating a crash that left two of their own hospitalized Wednesday evening.

The incident involving the officers occurred during a pursuit in Newark just after 10:30 sources tell FSU. County Police have not confirmed those details. Sources in law enforcement also tell FSU that the officers were involved in a high-speed chase of a stolen vehicle when they crashed on Route 273 in the area of Salem Church Road.

While official details regarding the crash or the exact nature of the officers’ injuries have not been disclosed, sources familiar with the situation tell First State Update that the injuries sustained are believed to be non-life-threatening. Following the incident, the area where the crash occurred was closed for an extended period while police investigated the crash.

It’s not clear if any arrests were made in connection to this incident.
