Elderly Man Seriously Injured In Crash With Tow Truck

At approximately 9:34 a.m. the New Castle County Paramedics and units from the Claymont Fire Company
were dispatched to Governor Printz Boulevard Extension and Brookfield Avenue, in Claymont, for the report of a motor vehicle collision with entrapment.

Fire Department personnel arrived on scene and reported a two-vehicle collision between a sedan and a tow truck. The 83-year-old male operator of the sedan was trapped in his vehicle. He was freed by firefighters using the “jaws of life” in just over 10 minutes. The man was treated by the Paramedics for a head injury and extremity injuries. He was transported to the Christiana Hospital, in Stanton, in serious but stable condition.

The Delaware State Police is investigating the incident.
