Maryland Authorities Looking For Driver That Struck Bicyclist On Sunday

Maryland authorities are investigating a Sunday evening crash in which a bicyclist was struck on the
Thomas J. Hatem Memorial Bridge (US 40) in Harford County.

At 5:57 p.m. on February 4, Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA) Police Officers assigned to the Hatem Bridge Detachment responded to the westbound lanes of the Hatem Bridge for a crash.

Responding officers located an adult male bicyclist with non-life-threatening injuries. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Preliminary information suggests that the bicyclist was in the right lane when he was struck by
an older model, dark-colored Ford pickup truck. Investigators believe the involved truck may be
missing its passenger-side rearview mirror as a result of the crash.

The driver of the striking vehicle did not remain at the scene, and investigators are actively working to locate this vehicle.

This is a developing investigation. Anyone who witnessed the crash or has information on the
involved truck is asked to call the MDTA Police at 410-537-1147.
