Crash Sends Two To Hospital Friday

On May 17, 2024, at approximately 4:38 p.m., New Castle County Paramedics, Aetna Hose Hook and Ladder Company, and Christiana Fire Department responded to a motor vehicle collision involving entrapment on Route 40 in the area of Perch Creek Drive.

The incident involved a large box truck and a vehicle with two passengers. The impact caused one of the vehicle’s occupants, a 27-year-old male, to become trapped. Emergency responders quickly arrived on scene and began extrication efforts. Following a successful extraction, the individual was treated for multiple injuries, including potentially serious but non-life-threatening injuries. He was subsequently transported by New Castle County Paramedics to Christiana Hospital in Stanton via an Aetna ambulance. The patient is reported to be in serious but stable condition.

The driver of the box truck, an approximately 40-year-old male, sustained injuries and was also transported to Christiana Hospital in Stanton by Christiana Fire Company.

Delaware State Police are actively investigating the incident to determine the cause of the collision.
