Police: Robbery Victim Opens Fire On Assailents In Newark Wednesday

The Delaware State Police are actively investigating a robbery and subsequent gunfire that took place in Newark yesterday.

Officials said on June 12, 2024, at approximately 11:31 a.m., troopers responded to reports of shots fired at the Salem Village Square Shopping Center. Upon arrival, they discovered that three unidentified suspects had assaulted and robbed an unidentified male victim inside The Smoke Shop at 13 Salem Village Square. Following the robbery, the suspects fled the scene in a white car.

In response, the victim retrieved a firearm from his vehicle and fired several shots at the fleeing car. Shortly after, the victim also left the scene.

The Troop 2 Robbery Unit is leading the investigation, working to identify and locate all parties involved. Detectives are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident or has pertinent information to contact Detective D. Armstrong at 302-365-8410.
