Major Crash Sends Driver To Hospital Wednesday

Delaware State Police are investigating a crash that left a driver seriously injured Wednesday morning in Harrington.

The accident occurred at approximately 8:14 on South Dupont Highway (Route 13) just north of Carpenter Bridge Road. Initial reports indicate that a single vehicle collided with a utility pole at highway speeds, causing severe damage and trapping the male driver inside.

Emergency services, including units from Harrington Fire Company, the Felton Fire Company, as well as Kent County Paramedics, and Delaware State Police Aviation’s Trooper 2, responded to the crash. The driver was heavily trapped for an extended period as rescue teams worked to extricate him from the wreckage.

Once freed, the driver was transported to Kent General with very serious injuries. His current condition has not been disclosed.
