Arrest Made In October Shooting

Wilmington Police have arrested a man in connection to an October shooting incident.

Officials said on October 3, at approximately 6:44 p.m., members of the Uniformed Services Division responded to the area of West 7th and North Monroe Streets in reference to a shooting incident. Upon arrival, police located a 19-year-old male gunshot victim, who was transported to the hospital in stable condition. The case was assigned to Detective Kevin Nolan of the Criminal Investigations Division.

Following an investigation, Detective Nolan and members of the Gun Intelligence Unit identified 24-year-old Tyshaun Blue as a suspect according to police. Blue, who police say was found to be wanted on an unrelated matter, was arrested on November 6. Police executed a search warrant in the 1300 block of Chestnut Street and took him into custody without incident. Police recovered a loaded 9mm handgun.

Blue has been charged with Assault (First Degree), Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition by a Person Prohibited – Three Counts, Discharging a Firearm on a City Street, and Criminal Mischief Under $1,000 in addition to his outstanding warrant.

He was arraigned in the New Castle County Court of Common Pleas and was committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $165,000 cash-only bail.
