Roommate Held Without Bond In Elkton Stabbing

On Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at approximately 1530 hours, Deputies with the Cecil County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the unit block of Smith Road near Elkton for a report of a stabbing.  Upon their arrival, a 60-year-old male victim was located with several stab wounds.

Officials said the victim’s 59-year-old roommate, Timothy Edward Charles, was identified as the suspect and taken into custody.  The male victim was flown by Maryland State Police Aviation to Shock Trauma for treatment and has since been released.

The motive for the stabbing is still being investigated by Cecil County detectives according to police.  A court approved search and seizure warrant was executed at the residence and items of evidentiary value were seized.  Charles was charged with attempted 2nd degree murder, assault 1st degree, assault 2nd degree, reckless endangerment, and weapon possession with intent to injure.  After a review with a District Court Commissioner Charles was held at the Cecil County Detention Center without bond.
