Just before 4:45 p.m. Sunday, rescue crews responded to an incident at 100 Station Way in Newark. Initial reports indicate police officers were already on the scene when the call went out.
Shortly after, reports emerged of a shooting at the location, which sits just across Route 896 from the University of Delaware’s sports complex.
At least a dozen officers responded to the scene. Sources within law enforcement tell First State Update an officer may have been involved in the incident. Officials have not confirmed these details. We do know that one individual was transported to a nearby hospital, reportedly suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Both University of Delaware Police and Newark Police have secured an area around a vehicle in the parking lot, where debris is visible. The site appears to be where medics attended to the injured individual.
