The Delaware State Police have arrested 22-year-old Tahrie Calloway of Claymont in connection with a fatal hit-and-run crash that occurred Saturday morning, July 26, 2025, in Milton.
According to investigators, the collision occurred at approximately 7:39 a.m. as a 2017 Honda Accord was traveling north on Sand Hill Road near the intersection with Burton Road. A bicyclist, a 67-year-old man from Milford, was riding along the eastern edge of the roadway in the same direction when he was struck by the front right side of the Honda. The impact threw the bicyclist into a grassy area. The driver of the vehicle failed to stop and fled the scene.
Emergency responders transported the injured bicyclist to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased. Authorities have not yet released the victim’s name pending notification of next of kin.
Delaware State Police troopers located the damaged Honda about one mile from the crash scene. EMS personnel had initially come upon the disabled vehicle. Following an investigation, troopers confirmed the damage was consistent with the fatal crash. Calloway, identified as the driver, was taken into custody without incident. Troopers reported that he showed signs of impairment and detected the smell of alcohol during the encounter.
Calloway was transported to Troop 4 and charged with Vehicular Homicide Second Degree, Leaving the Scene of a Collision Resulting in Death, Tampering with Physical Evidence, Driving Under the Influence, and Inattentive Driving. He was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 3 and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on an $18,101 cash bond.
