State Fair Incident Ends With Felony Charge

HARRINGTON – A woman from Lincoln, Delaware, is facing a felony assault charge following an incident at the Delaware State Fair on Friday morning, according to the Delaware State Police.

At approximately 11:15 a.m. on July 25, 2025, troopers responded to Gate 7 of the Delaware State Fairgrounds on Simpson Road for a reported assault. The investigation determined that the incident stemmed from an argument between the victim and a 26-year-old male acquaintance, who was driving the victim to a location in Sussex County police said. The dispute reportedly led to the victim asking to be dropped off at Harrington Casino instead.

Upon arrival at the location, the male suspect forcibly removed the victim from the vehicle. As the victim attempted to retrieve her purse from inside the car, a rear passenger, identified as 28-year-old Caitlynn Scott of Lincoln, allegedly pepper sprayed her in the face. The suspects then fled the scene.

The victim was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of injuries caused by the chemical spray.

Troopers later located the suspect vehicle in Milford and conducted a traffic stop. Both Scott and the 26-year-old male were taken into custody without incident and transported to Troop 3. The male suspect was charged with a misdemeanor assault-related offense and released.

Scott was charged with Assault in the Second Degree, a felony. She was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 2 and released on a $3,000 unsecured bond.
