One Injured In Elsmere House Fire

The Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office is conducting an investigation into a residential fire that occurred in Elsmere on the evening of Wednesday, July 23, 2025.

Firefighters from the Elsmere Fire Company responded to the 100 block of Elizabeth Avenue at approximately 6:40 p.m., where they encountered heavy fire extending from the second floor into the attic area of the home.

One male occupant was treated for smoke inhalation at the scene and subsequently transported to Christiana Hospital for further evaluation, according to fire officials.

Investigators determined the fire originated on a second-floor deck and was the result of careless smoking. Damage is estimated at approximately $75,000.
