Police ID Woman Killed In Thursday Crash

Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred Thursday evening in Dover.

Officials on July 3, 2025, at approximately 6:00 p.m., a Honda Accord was stopped for the stop sign at the intersection of Birchfield Drive and Forrest Avenue. At the same time, a Hyundai Veloster was traveling westbound on Forrest Avenue, approaching Birchfield Drive. The Honda failed to remain stopped and entered the roadway, causing the left front of the Hyundai to crash into the right front of the Honda on Forrest Avenue police said.

The driver of the Honda, 76-year-old Ann Skeans of Dover, Delaware, was taken to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead. The driver of the Hyundai, a 17-year-old male from Marydel, Maryland, was airlifted to Christiana Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries via Delaware State Police Aviation’s Trooper 4..

The roadway was partially closed for approximately three and a half hours while members of the Delaware State Police Troop 3 Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) investigated the crash and cleared the roadway.
