Serious Crash in Newark Leaves Elderly Woman Hospitalized

An elderly woman was seriously injured Thursday evening following a motor vehicle collision in Newark. The crash occurred at approximately 5:56 p.m. at the intersection of Marrows Road and Wyoming Avenue. Emergency crews from Aetna Hose, Hook, & Ladder Company of Newark and New Castle County Paramedics were dispatched to the scene after reports indicated a tourniquet had been applied to one of the victims.

Upon arrival, paramedics located an 87-year-old female who had sustained significant injuries to her extremities. Medical personnel immediately began treatment at the scene, working to stabilize the patient before preparing her for transport. Due to the severity of her injuries, paramedics accompanied the patient as she was taken by Aetna Hose, Hook, & Ladder Company ambulance to Christiana Hospital in Newark. Officials said she was in serious condition at the time of transport.
