Delaware State Police charged a Newark man with burglary and theft after investigators alleged he stole medication and other property from a resident at a senior living community in Greenville.
Troopers were called to Stonegates Senior Living Community at 4031 Kennett Pike on December 17, 2025, after a resident reported items missing from their home. The resident told investigators that prescription medication and personal belongings had disappeared on several occasions. To document the losses, the resident installed a camera system throughout the home, using both visible and hidden devices.
According to police, the cameras recorded fifty-year-old John Oboyle, a maintenance employee at Stonegates, taking prescription medication and a portion of the camera system on December 15. Although Oboyle had authorized access to the residence as part of his employment, investigators said he had no legitimate reason to enter the home at the time the theft was recorded.
Troopers arrested Oboyle in Newark on December 17 and transported him to Troop 1. He was charged with burglary second degree, acquiring a controlled substance by theft, and theft under $1,500 where the victim is over the age of 62. Court records show he was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 2 and released on a six-thousand-dollar unsecured bond.
