New Castle County, DE – At approximately 2:28 p.m. Saturday, emergency crews were dispatched to the intersection of Hamburg Road and River Road for reports of a two-vehicle collision involving a rollover.
Upon arrival, first responders located multiple injured occupants. Paramedics and firefighters from several New Castle County agencies worked together to treat and transport a total of eight patients to area hospitals.
A 30-year-old male was transported to Christiana Hospital in Stanton by Goodwill Fire Company ambulance accompanied by New Castle County Paramedics. He was reported in stable condition with head, neck, and possible internal injuries. A second 30-year-old male was also transported to Christiana Hospital by Delaware City Fire Company ambulance with paramedics on board, suffering from head and possible internal injuries.
An approximately 80-year-old female was transported in stable condition to Christiana Hospital by Wilmington Manor Fire Company ambulance with paramedics, sustaining head, neck, back, and possible internal injuries. Five additional patients with minor injuries were transported to Christiana Hospital and Nemours Children’s Hospital in Wilmington by various responding fire companies.
The Delaware State Police are investigating the cause of the collision. Responding agencies included New Castle County Paramedics, Delaware City Fire Company, Goodwill Fire Company, Port Penn Fire Company, Holloway Terrace Fire Company, and Wilmington Manor Fire Company.
