High-Cash Bail Set In September Incident

Wilmington Police have taken a suspect into custody following a reported robbery in the city’s downtown area.

According to authorities, on September 30, at approximately 12:39 p.m., officers from the department’s Special Operations Division responded to the 800 block of North Market Street after receiving a report of a robbery. Upon arrival, police located and arrested 40-year-old Christopher Workenaour without incident.

Investigators charged Workenaour with one count of Robbery in the First Degree. Officials did not release additional details about the circumstances of the alleged offense or whether any property was recovered.

Following his arrest, Workenaour was arraigned in the New Castle County Court of Common Pleas. The court set his bail at $40,000 cash only.

Workenaour was subsequently committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution, pending further court proceedings.
