Delaware State Police Aviation On Scene At NJ Plane Crash Rescue Saturday Morning
Emergency crews in Salem County, New Jersey, responded late Saturday morning to reports of a small aircraft down in a marsh area near Rainbow End Airport in Mannington Township, Salam County.
At approximately 11:20 a.m., New Jersey rescue teams were dispatched to the area of 816 Hawks Bridge Road after reports of an aircraft down. Using drone equipment, responders located the crash site in a marsh. A New Jersey State Police helicopter was seen circling overhead during the operation, while Delaware State Police Aviation’s Trooper 4 and Trooper 2 were also requested for assistance.
Shortly before 1:30 p.m., emergency crews rescued two people from the crash site using a hoist system. The individuals had become bogged down in the mud surrounding the wreckage. Their conditions have not been released.
The scene saw heavy aerial activity as rescue and media helicopters converged in the area, including aircraft from the New Jersey State Police, Delaware State Police Aviation units Trooper 2 and Trooper 4, and a U.S. Coast Guard helicopter that was operating nearby.
One patient was airlifted to Christiana Hospital via Trooper 2. Trooper 4 stayed behind picking up rescue crews from the crash site. No word on the second patient’s mode of transport.
Authorities have not confirmed the aircraft type or the circumstances leading to the crash. Further details are expected from official sources as the response continues.
