Serious Crash In Sussex County, MCI Declared

Emergency crews are on the scene of a serious motor vehicle collision in the area of Shawnee Road and Mennonite School Road near Greenwood. The crash, initially reported just after 8:00 Thursday morning, involves multiple vehicles and has reportedly resulted in at least one person being ejected.

Command has ordered Shawnee Road closed due to the severity of the incident and the number of injured individuals. Command on scene has declared a Level 1 Mass Casualty Incident (MCI) to coordinate the medical response.

Responding and assisting agencies include the Ellendale Fire Company, Greenwood Fire Company, Sussex County Paramedics, and Delaware State Police Aviation’s Trooper 2.

Authorities remain on scene, and motorists are advised to avoid the area while emergency operations continue.
