Fourth DUI And Drug Charges For Bridgeville Man

Delaware State Police arrested a Bridgeville man on Thursday after a traffic stop in Frankford led to felony drug and DUI charges.

According to investigators, a trooper patrolling the Cypress Swamp area at about 3:20 p.m. observed a vehicle swerving out of its lane and nearly striking oncoming traffic. The trooper stopped the vehicle and identified the driver as 24-year-old Marcus Massey Jr. of Bridgeville. Troopers reported that Massey Jr. showed signs of impairment, leading to the administration of Standard Field Sobriety Tests.

Authorities said a search of Massey Jr. uncovered approximately 4.29 grams of heroin hidden on his person. A computer check revealed that he had three prior DUI convictions at the time of the stop. He was taken into custody and transported to Troop 4 for processing.

Massey Jr. was charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance at a Tier 2 quantity, fourth-offense driving under the influence of drugs, possession of a controlled substance at a Tier 2 quantity, driving while suspended or revoked, and several related traffic violations.

He was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 2 and later committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on an $11,503 secured bond. Authorities released a mugshot of Massey Jr. following his arrest.
