Frantic Search For Missing County Officer Thursday

At around 2:15 on Thursday afternoon, rescue crews were dispatched to a Sonoco service station on Route 40 for reports that an on-duty New Castle County Police Officer was suffering from chest pains.

When crews arrived, they could not locate the officer. Officials began using investigative techniques to locate the officer. The search had officers responding to several locations throughout Bear.

FSU readers were reporting that state and county police were flying through their neighborhoods in the area of the WAWA on Wrangle Hill Road.

After about 45 minutes of officers responding to multiple locations, the cruiser was located at a concrete company along Wrangle Hill Road. The officer was not in the vehicle, sources tell FSU.

The search continued with officers following footsteps in the snow and the officer was later found in the 600 block of Clifton Road in Bear.

County Police have not released details surrounding the incident.
