Police: Wanted Man Facing Drug Charges After Chase

The Delaware State Police reported that a 29-year-old man from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, was taken into custody early Friday morning following a vehicle pursuit in Frederica.

According to police, at approximately 2:00 a.m. on January 30, 2026, a trooper patrolling Bay Road near Barratts Chapel Road observed a Lexus ES300 traveling southbound at a high rate of speed. When the trooper attempted a traffic stop, the driver failed to stop and accelerated. The pursuit was later terminated due to public safety concerns, and surrounding agencies were notified of the fleeing vehicle.

A short time later, officers with the City of Milford Police Department located the Lexus disabled near the intersection of North Street and Dupont Boulevard. Police said the driver exited the vehicle and threw a baggie containing an unknown substance before being taken into custody following a brief struggle. Troopers who responded to the scene conducted a search of the area and recovered the discarded baggie, which was found to contain approximately 3.5 grams of suspected powder cocaine officials said.

Investigators said the driver, Marquan Mack, provided a false name in an attempt to conceal active warrants for a violation of parole in New Jersey and a violation of probation in Pennsylvania. Troopers also said that Mack showed signs of impairment.

Mack was transported to Troop 3, where he was charged with providing a false statement to law enforcement with the intent to delay or hinder a felony investigation, disregarding a police officer’s signal, resisting arrest, possession and consumption of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, reckless driving at 90 miles per hour or greater, driving under the influence of a combination of alcohol and drugs, and related traffic offenses. He was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2 and committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution on a $6,001 secured bond.
