Body Found In Pond Near Elementary School

File

Authorities in Seaford are investigating after a body was recovered from Williams Pond Wednesday morning.

Police said the discovery was reported on April 15, 2026, at approximately 11:16 a.m., when kayakers on the pond observed what appeared to be a body in the water. Responding personnel from the Seaford Police Department, Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control officers, and local fire and EMS units arrived at the scene and confirmed the presence of a deceased individual.

Officials said the individual has not yet been identified. Authorities indicated that no additional information will be released until next of kin notifications are completed and the investigation progresses.

The body was turned over to the Delaware Division of Forensic Science for examination to determine the cause and manner of death.

Due to the location near Frederick Douglass Elementary School, measures were implemented to shield the scene from public view and limit visibility from nearby areas officials said.

Authorities are asking anyone with information related to the case or other criminal activity to contact the Seaford Police Department at (302) 629-6645. Anonymous tips can also be submitted to Delaware Crime Stoppers by calling (800) 847-3333 or by text.
