Late-Night Crash Turns Deadly On Quiet Delaware Road

File

A 34-year-old Lincoln man died Saturday night following a single-vehicle crash in Harrington, according to the Delaware State Police.

The crash occurred on May 23, 2026, at approximately 9:57 p.m. on Sandbox Road east of McCauley Pond Road.

Police said a Nissan Altima was traveling westbound when the driver failed to negotiate a moderate curve in the roadway. The vehicle then lost control, rotated off the road, and its rear passenger side struck a large tree.

The driver, who investigators said was not properly restrained, was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities are withholding his identity pending notification of family members.

Sandbox Road was closed for about three and a half hours as troopers investigated the crash and cleared the scene.

The Delaware State Police Troop 7 Collision Reconstruction Unit continues to investigate the incident.
