A Pennsylvania man is facing burglary and criminal mischief charges after New Castle County Police said he entered the wrong home in Newark’s Robscott Manor community following a dispute earlier in the evening.
Police were dispatched around 1:39 a.m. Saturday, May 30, 2026, to the unit block of Argyle Road for a reported burglary in progress. When officers arrived, they found two individuals involved in an altercation in the front yard of a residence and detained both parties while the investigation unfolded.
Investigators identified one of the individuals as 35-year-old Michael Klingenfmith of Ridley Park, Pennsylvania.
According to police, Klingenfmith had been involved in a disagreement with a known individual at a local bar earlier in the night. Authorities said he later traveled to Argyle Road intending to confront that individual at their home.
During the investigation, officers determined Klingenfmith broke a rear window and entered a residence on Argyle Road. Once inside, he was confronted by the homeowner and realized he had entered the wrong house, police said.
After leaving the home, Klingenfmith allegedly went into the yard of a neighboring residence, where he encountered the individual involved in the earlier dispute. Police said a physical altercation followed in the front yard and continued until officers arrived.
Klingenfmith was taken to New Castle County Police headquarters and charged with one felony count of second-degree burglary and one misdemeanor count of criminal mischief over $1,000.
He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and released after posting $5,500 secured bail.
