Delaware State Police arrested a 35-year-old California man after authorities say he and another suspect used fraudulent documents to steal a trailer containing more than $680,000 worth of electronics from a New Castle warehouse.
Police said two suspects arrived at Emolo Consumer Electronics, located at 1146 River Road, at approximately 9:15 a.m. Sunday, September 14. The suspects allegedly identified themselves as FedEx employees and presented driver’s licenses and shipping documents for the trailer. They then connected the trailer to a tractor cab and left the property.
The documents were later determined to be fraudulent, according to police. On Monday, September 15, troopers responded to University Plaza in Newark after the tractor-trailer was located there. While speaking with the caller, troopers spotted one of the suspects walking toward the vehicle and identified him as Dushatdaman Parihar, 35, of Manteca, California.
Investigators determined that the driver’s licenses presented at the warehouse and the registration plate displayed on the tractor-trailer were fraudulent. Parihar was taken into custody without incident. Police recovered the trailer and said all of the more than $680,000 worth of cargo remained inside and was returned to the business.
Parihar was charged with felony theft of property valued at $100,000 or more, first-degree forgery, second-degree forgery, second-degree conspiracy and displaying a fictitious registration plate. He was arraigned by the Justice of the Peace Court and committed to the Delaware Department of Correction on a $66,550 secured bond.
