Middletown – This afternoon, at approximately 12:45 p.m., New Castle County Paramedics and personnel from the Port Penn, Odessa, Townsend, Delaware City, and Christiana Fire Companies were dispatched to DuPont Parkway and Port Penn Road, for a motor vehicle crash with entrapment, according to Senior Corporal David J. McKinney, Jr.
McKinney said that arriving County Paramedics found a multiple vehicle crash with two people trapped in the wreckage. The patients were extricated from their vehicle by fire department personnel on scene, working under the Command of Port Penn Fire Company.
Once extricated the patients, a 20-year-old female and a 21-year-old female were evaluated for non-life threatening injuries. They were transported to the Emergency Department at Christiana Hospital on board an ambulance from the Port Penn Fire Company.
A 45-year-old female was evaluated for a possible chest injury and transported to the Trauma Center at Christiana Hospital on board an ambulance from the Odessa Fire Company, with a New Castle County Paramedic accompanying.
A female involved in the crash refused transport to the hospital. A male was later transported to the hospital for evaluation of non-life threatening injuries on board an ambulance from the Townsend Fire Company. All patients were stable upon transport from the scene.
The Delaware State Police were no scene and are investigating the crash.
