Serious Crash In Newark Sends 5 To Area Hospitals, 1 To duPount

Newark – Rescue crews from Aetna Hose, Hook and Ladder, along with Newark Police responded to Route 896 (S College Ave) in the area of Friendly’s for an accident with entrapment.

Arriving crews have found five patients with at least one trapped. Crews extricated one patient. Trooper 4 transport that patient to AI duPont.

At 1:04  PM Newark Police confirmed that South College Avenue would be shut down for several hours to investigate the accident.

South bound lanes have reopened.

Lt. Fred Nelson confirms that five patients were transported to area hospitals. Nelson did not elaborate on the patients injuries.

We are expecting police to release more information about the accident shortly.
