Man Pleads Guilty To Assaulting DNREC Officer Gets Jail Time

Laurel – A Seaford man who assaulted a DNREC Fish & Wildlife Natural Resources Police officer Oct. 3 after he was found trespassing after hours in the Nanticoke Wildlife Area plead guilty and received a jail sentence this month, according to authorities.

Officials said Daniel A. Allen, 21, plead guilty to felony resisting arrest with force or violence and intentionally fleeing from a peace officer. Allen was fined $2,571 in restitution and sentenced to three months incarceration, followed by probation.

Allen was arrested Oct. 11, arraigned at Sussex County Justice of the Peace Court 2, and committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution (SCI) in Georgetown on a $12,202 secured bond. Following his trial in the Sussex County Superior Court, he was re-committed to SCI to serve his sentence.
