County Police, DSP Team Up To Take Down Burglary Suspects

New Castle – New Castle County Police have arrested 37-year-old Alexis Martinez of Dover and 25-year-old Kelly White of Wilmington for multiple burglaries which had occurred throughout New Castle County, according to M/Cpl. Michel Eckerd.

Eckerd said on Thursday, (December 15) Detectives from the New Castle County Police Special Investigations Squad were conducting surveillance in the area of Pine Street in the city of Wilmington when subjects matching the description of Alexis Martinez and Kelly White were observed leaving a residence. After a brief foot chase, both subjects were taken into custody, said Eckerd.

During the course of the investigation detectives from the New Castle County Criminal Investigations Unit and detectives from the Delaware State Police (DSP) were able to obtain search warrants and recover multiple amounts of stolen property, according to Eckerd.

Alexis Martinez was charged by Detectives from both agencies. Additional charges from detectives from other jurisdictions are pending, said Eckerd.

Alexis Martinez was charged with 11 counts of Burglary 3rd (Felony), 3 counts of Possession of Burglar Tools (Felony) 3 counts of Forgery 2nd (Felony), 1 count Theft of a Motor Vehicle (Felony) 1 count of Conspiracy 2nd , 1 count Unlawful Use of a Credit Card (Misdemeanor), 3 counts of Felony Theft, 2 counts of Resisting Arrest (Misdemeanor), 12 Counts of Theft (Misdemeanor), 6 counts of Criminal Mischief (Misdemeanor), 1 count of Criminal Trespass 3rd (Misdemeanor), 2 counts of Shoplifting (Misdemeanor), and the following traffic charges: Driving while License Suspended, Aggressive Driving, Disregarding a Police Officer’s Signal, Driving an Unreasonable Speed, Leaving the Scene of a Property Damage Accident, Failure to Provide Information at the Scene of an Accident, Failure to Remain in Lane, 4 counts of Failure to Signal Turn, and 3 counts of Failure to Stop at a Stop Sign.

Alexis Martinez was arraigned and held in lieu of $78,499 cash bail.

Kelly White was charged with Burglary 2nd (Felony), Resisting Arrest (Misdemeanor) Receiving Stolen Property (Misdemeanor). She was arraigned and held in lieu of $8000 secured bail.
