Philadelphia Pike Walgreens Robbed At Knifepoint

The Delaware State Police are investigating the knifepoint robbery of a north Wilmington pharmacy that took place Sunday evening, according to Public Information Officer, Master Corporal Michael Austin.

Austin said the incident occurred at approximately 6:20 p.m., Sunday, January 20, 2019, at the Walgreens’s pharmacy, located at 1508 Philadelphia Pike in Wilmington. A male suspect, with his face concealed, approached the sales counter and proceeded to make a purchase. Once the clerk opened the register to complete the transaction the suspect displayed a knife and demanded money from the register, said Jaffe. The suspect then reached into the cash drawer and removed an undisclosed amount of cash before fleeing the business in an unknown direction, according to Jaffe. The employee was not injured as a result of the incident.

The suspect was described as a black male, 40-45 years of age with a large build, wearing all dark clothing to include a covering over his face and a hat.

Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to contact the Troop 2 Robbery Unit at 302-365-8566.
