Newark Man Charged With Theft Of Over $100K From Amazon, Released On Unsecured Bond

On Friday, February 15, 2019, the Middletown Police Department (MPD) arrested John Montoro, 25, of Newark, DE after an investigation revealed that he was falsifying business records while employed by Amazon, according to MPD Spokesman Captain William Texter.

Texter said between July 2018 and February 2019, Montoro received over $100,000 in illegal proceeds. Additionally, it was discovered that he attempted to fraudulently obtain another $20,000 plus, but was not successful, according to Texter.

Montoro was charged with Theft greater than $100,000, Attempted Theft Greater than $1500, and two counts of falsifying business records. He was arraigned and released after receiving $53,000 unsecured bond.
